Visa on Fire

I just spent the last two hours booking flights, hotels, and car rentals for my Interview Trail Extravaganza!!! And I am not even finished yet.

I think my VISA is about to spontaneously combust.

So far I am at $1440 dollars (and 21 000 aeroplan points) poorer, with still 5 nights hotel left to book and transportation from Toronto to Hamilton.

I am reminding myself to be thankful for the financial burden. It means I have interviews which probably means I have a future job back here in Canadia...What is that saying about having to spend money in order to make money!?

Eep!

Oh honey. My husband just laid down $7800 as a deposit for our au pair. I couldn't bear the thought of looking at a number that high on my credit card statement, which is why I made him pay.

I'm in Hamilton in February, and the rental has unlimited miles--err unlimited kilometers--if you're stranded.

The Days Inn in downtown Hamilton will go for $80/nt via a phone call if you also need lodging there. I stay there while visiting my (now) fiancee. We've put in ~30 nights w/o complaints.

OMDG--Yikes! Well at least au pair expenses are one financial burden I will not have to consider for a long....long....time (if ever!)

Christopher--Woah! Thanks for the car offer, and good to know about the Day's in! I think I have a couch on offer for lodging...but I might take you up on the wheels! Can you send me your email? (Mine is blackkermode at gmail dot com.) Thaaaaaaaannnnnks!

I hope your interviews go well and that you get the job of your dreams. You've worked hard.

Thanks, Jill! I hope so too! :)

I think my 'dream job' could have many forms so I will try not to be disappointed with the outcome, no matter what.

Congratulations! Can't imagine being at that point - application experience times about a thousand - both financially and emotionally. Good luck on your interviews!

There's an express GO from downtown Toronto, and it'll let you off very close to Mac. (If that's where your interviews are held... otherwise, you can get off downtown). It's a very efficient way of getting to the Hammer! Much faster and less stressful than driving.

Good luck! If you're in Calgary or Vancouver, I can offer a place to stay (if that's not too weird... I was pretty shameless about staying with my friend's brother's friend and such while on the CARMS trail).
