Trisomy X Facepalm

Last week's case was a baby with ambiguous genitalia (not that uncommon, turns out). So last night I was finishing up the homework for today's class and reading about different sex chromosome related syndromes.

I blame it on the jet lag because it wasn't until after I hit the 'search' button that I realized my folly in the google image search for "XXX".

Yeah, lets just say the first 10 billion hits were not trisomy X phenotypes.

Facepalm.

Well, I assume the pictures you found DIDN'T have ambiguous genitalia.

You are indeed correct, no micropenis or clitoromegaly observed.

Also, really glad I was on the school server.

I don't get it. Can you post a few examples of these search results to help clarify?

Wow - SO funny! I can totally see how that would happen, too! ;) Oops. NOT the ambiguous genitalia you were expecting I'm sure.

Haha, this exact thing happened to me 2 years ago! (I was giving a presentation on unusual sex chromosome genotypes... sigh. Google fail!)

ROFL - The same thing happened to me. I was looking for that picture of the cute little old nun having a grand old time at the computer, with the tip of her tongue poking out the side of her mouth. I did a search for nun tongue.

Ummm... not what I was looking for.

Very good, ABB!

Though I wouldn't put it past the interwebs to have a page somewhere for men (and let's face it, it's pretty much always men) who have a taste for ambiguous genitalia :/

Yeah right ABB, I'm SURE that's why you googled "XXX".

So that's the excuse I make next time the better half comes over...

I chalk it up to you living so fully in the Trisomy X moment that you didn't consider the more common XXX alternative. Blame it on Zen.

Or maybe your mind is just very, very pure. :-)

I had a friend who wanted to get a new unwired ('naked') internet plan. A popular provider of these internet plans is Virgin. You can see where this is going - and just to add a little more spice, he did it from his work - in the IT investigations department!

@PGY--Heheh, I think it was a bit of both! =)

I'm sure if you searched the internet hard enough you COULD find those types of videos with some people who sport ambiguous genitalia...
