Just Wow

I hesitated on hitting "publish" on my last post, but am so so glad I did.

There is an owl, somewhere nearby, hoo-hooing hoo-hooing hoo-hooing. The dogs are snoozing on their beds and a tiny silver sliver of light is starting to outline the ridge of the mountains. It's early morning and I am doing some school-work before work-work.

But what I was actually doing was reading through the comments on my last post and feeling so grateful that people still read this blog and still leave me such wonderful, uplifting, affirming, supportive comments. Strangers (mostly) who know me extremely well whom I don't know at all. Some who have been on this journey with me since 2008 - my word - almost 10 years. It's a strange and beautiful conversation.

Thank you.

Hooo-hooo. Hoo-hoo. Hoo.

Indeed. In the words of the Grateful dead, "What a long strange trip it's been". I love hearing owls. Something haunting, yet comforting in their voices.

Your post *sounds* much less stressed than the posts of the last few years. You're doing the right thing. It's your journey but I am grateful that you share it with us.

Very strange comment preceding this one! Does he plan to solve your financial problems? Catching up on you, a little late but just read all your posts back to 2014 or so. We corresponded in 2013 when I was a full-time rural obgyn and you were trying to decide about the extra year doing ob. Happy you survived your year of doing way too much for way too many, and I can easily imagine what you left out of your posts. And congratulations on having the courage to say, "STOP," because that is no way to live your one and only life. Also happy that I am now retired, joyously retired. All of the best to you in the future.

@Macha - Yes I remember well our discussions in 2013, found them most helpful. Hahaha, yes I am sure you know exactly what types of details were left out. Congrats on your retirement!!! I am sure it must be a delight to turn your phone off for as many days in a row as you want. xx

@Shash - My husband would agree that my stressy-ness has decreased substantially since making the move and the decision to step away from rural surgery life. Thank you for reading and for your comments.

@Jono - Yes! Perfect description.
