Moving is Not

Watching the father-of-the-baby texting during the vacuum extraction of his child.

Really? Texting?

More proof that the end of civilization is near.

Maybe he was just trying to keep himself from passing out? I don't know, just doing the whole benefit of the doubt thing....

I see this all the time in neuro emergencies in ER. Sometimes it's even the patient, using their working hand.

I think the sign of the End Times is that man also paid $3.95 for his Katy Perry ring tone...

OMDG--Maybe. He did retire to the bathroom shortly after and didn't emerge again before I left. There just didn't seem to be much interest or excitement involved with either of the parents. It made me kind of sad for them.

Grump--easy assessment I guess! hahah (fine motor skills intact no texting aphasia).

Chris--Hahahah! Yes indeed...

My first thought was the same as Old MD Girl's.

When my daughter was born, she was a C-section and they had a screen to prevent me from looking and passing out. I can't imagine sending a text - although it would be to the new grandparents, aunts, and uncles - and it would have to be one handed, because at least one hand was holding the hand of the ex-wife.

If I am close enough to hold her hand, I am also close enough to be punched for paying more attention to the phone than to her, or the new baby.
