Exciting Things

Tobie and I are off to London tomorrow to see one of my favorite artists--Hawksley Workman. Back on Sunday morning. Just in time for me to cram neuro anatomy into my brain.

We also put the deposit on our apartment for next year!

More on that to follow. Happy Friday!

Oooh London! Have lots of fun and congrats on putting a deposit down on an apartment :) I'm looking for real estate and the variety is endless, though not my budget so the search continues!

I hope the volcano-airport closures aren't affecting your return trip.

Maha--It was my first time outside of Heathrow (she spits on the floor). It was just a short trip this time but definitely looking forward to going back next year.

And then 10 years later so I can actually afford SHOP there!!! Wow.

Good luck on the real estate hunt.

I have to admit that one of the soul crushing things about apartment hunting here was that when we bought our house in BC a few years ago one of the BIG pluses in my mind was that I'd never have to deal with sleezy property managers EVER again.

Sigh.

And so it appears that I will indeed have to deal with aforementioned property managers and chain smoking landlords for oh, another 6-10 years?! Hahahaha.

If you're patient I am sure you will find something perfect for you. Just a matter of keeping the real estate/brokers/sellers at bay!

GEN--Thanks! It was great, except for the ulcer I got being worried about our flight home. :P

Ohhh, I only know "Smoke Baby", which I came across by coincidence a couple of years ago. I totally forgot about it when my iTunes got wiped, but now I think I might need to hunt down some CDs! Any special recommendations song-wise?

Arz--Well, the whole album "For Him and the Girls" is amazing IMHO.

But.

If you wanted to go on an itunes spending spree of singles these would be my faves (not in order):

Sad House Daddy
Sweet Hallelujah
Don't Be Crushed
Safe and Sound
No Sissies
Striptease
Little Tragedies
Your Beauty Must Be Rubbing Off
Autumn's Here
Even an Ugly Man
Old Bloody Orange

(and of course, Smoke Baby).

If you check out the liners for most of his albums he plays all the instruments, does all the vocals, records, produces, and releases everything himself on his own label (with the exception of a few songs with trumpet or female harmonies).

He. Is. Amazing.

Oh, and "Bullets".

Can't believe I left out Bullets.

Thanks a lot for the recs! I love artists who actually do stuff themselves as opposed to those instant (casted) pop groups.
